The Lillians journey has been a whirwind for Kelli Holt and her mother, Leona. Leona heard about Lillians from the Aunt of Shelly Sack, owner of Lillians Rapid City. It was a only a few short weeks after learning about Lilllians that Kelli and her husband, Eric were in Minnesota at Passion day learning about the Lillians franchise. The decision was made to open a Lillians in Colorado Springs and make Lillians a family business owned by Kelli and her mother, Leona.
Kelli comes to Lillians after being in the insurance industry for 12 years. Prior to life in the insurance industry, Kelli worked and managed retail clothing stores while in high school and college.
The idea of coming back to retail was exciting for Kelli. With Lillians occassional sale concept, Kelli knew she could continue to work with her current insurance clients and still own and work in a retail shop. It was at that point that everything began to fall into place. Leona has been a hairdresser for over 40 years. She lives and works in Montana and flys to Colorado Springs each month for the Lillians occassional sale. This allows her the opportunity to spend time her children and grandchildren. Her son and family live in Colorado as well. Kelli has been married to Eric for 10 years and they have 7 year old twin girls. You may see them helping out at the shoppe occassionally.
With over 300 days of sunshine each year, outdoor recreation opportunities are everywhere you look. Colorado Springs, Colorado, is home to numerous exciting and unique attractions such as Pikes Peak, U.S. Olympic Training Center, Garden of the Gods Park, The Cog Railway, Cave of the Winds, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Seven Falls, Flying W Ranch and the U.S. Air Force Academy. In the 1890s, gold was discovered on the western slope of Pikes Peak, one of the richest gold strikes in American history. As a result, by the turn of the 19th century, Colorado Springs was called "the city of millionaires." One of these millionaires was Spencer Penrose, who made his first fortune in Cripple Creek. He used his vast resources to build the Pikes Peak and Cheyenne Mountain Highways and to establish the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Will Rogers Shrine and The Broadmoor Hotel.
At the turn of the century, inspired by a trip to the summit of Pikes Peak, Katharine Lee Bates penned what has become our country's most famous poem and song, "America the Beautiful."
